Detox Water

Drinking fruit-infused water has been one of my healthy habits ever since I read about it somewhere. And whenever I put up an Instagram story or update the status on Wattsapp of a jar filled with my most favorite Detox Water, no matter how many alike posts I have made in past, still I get the messages and DMs asking curiously "What's this?". So I thought if it's going to benefit even one curious soul, I must pen it down, cause I think that's the very success of it. Making a positive difference is always a good idea after all.

What is Detox Water?

It's basically Water flavored with Fruits. A jar-full quantity of  water that we infuse with watery fruits, vegetables and some fresh herbs. It is also called as 'Fruit-infused water' or 'Master cleanse'. Some of it's benefits include - it keeps you hydrated, gives you benefit of added nutrients, helps you maintain energy levels and helps in weight loss. There are few myths attached to it as well. But it's such a cool way (well, literally) to keep yourself hydrated. I mean when I tried it at the first time, it felt different and bit weird too to my taste but then it became the most favorite element of my healthcare regime.

Why to make these additions to water?

It is generally advised to drink adequate amount of water in a day to keep yourself hydrated but then why do we make these additions to it at the first place? Looking at it other way around, it's absolutely fine to drink water as it is. Also, Detox water cannot be compared to having whole fruits either, cause having the fruits and veggies in their natural form, in ways they are supposed to be eaten, is always the best practice and can't be compared with just infusing with the water. But I think adding fruits and veggies not only amplifies the taste but brings in the goodness of nutrients too. So, it's worth a shot.

How to make it?

Honestly, there's no recipe, no measurements as such. Just take a big jar or any bottle that you are going to carry for the day. (Using a mason jar or anything with a lid on is good idea, cause it is going to stay on your desk for a while.) Fill it with drinking water. Then top it up with slices of fruits and veggies of your preference.
Juicy and watery fruits are preferable. It can be Lemon, Sweet Lime, Cucumber, Carrots, Orange segments, Pineapple, Berries or even Watermelon and Tomatoes. Make sure to chop them in chunks and not in too thin slices. You can get as creative with the choices of fruits and make many varieties and combinations of this infused water as per your taste. Some Mint leaves, Coriander and Basil seeds can be added for extra freshness.
Once mixed together, let it sit for a while so that water could absorb the taste of sliced fruits. Once ready, you can sip it on throughout the day.

I hope this was helpful. Do give it a try and let me know in the comments below.

Stay hydrated!
