Dates and Chocolate Modak

Hey you guys.. Let me first wish you all a very Happy Ganesh Chaturthi. Ganpati festival has just begun and like every year I am all set to treat Bappa with as many varieties of modak as I can make. And today I am going to share one of the easiest Modak recipes with you all. It's 'Dates and Chocolate Modak' with nuts and poppy seeds filled inside. The recipe is quite simple and can be made in huge quantities to take these as gifts to your friends and relatives when you visit them during the festival.

Ingredients:
Dark Chocolate (Chopped) 100 grms
Dates 10 -12 (Chopped)
Almonds (Roughly ground) 2-3 Tbsp
Cashews (Roughly ground) 2-3 Tbsp
Poppy Seeds (Roasted) 1 Tsp
Milk Powder 2 Tsp

Procedure:
1. In a Grinder Jar, take Dates, Almonds, Cashews, Poppy seeds and Milk Powder. Grind the mixture until it's well combined.

2. Once done, divide the mixture into tiny pieces and make small balls from it. You need to size the stuffing according to the size of modak sheet mould.

3. Melt the chocolate either in Microwave or using double boiler. Make sure there are no lumps and it has smooth consistency. Transfer the melted chocolate into piping bag just to make it easy while filling the moulds.

4. Now Pour the melted chocolate into modak sheet moulds. Fill just three-fourth of the mould and put the date mixture balls in filled chocolate. Press it down slightly. Tap the sheet gently and fill up the remaining part of the moulds with some more chocolate.

5. Refrigerate it for 15 to 20 Minutes or keep in the freezer for 5 mins. Once done take out the sheet mould, flip it upside down and give it a gentle tap to demould them and your Chcolate Modaks are ready to be served to Bappa.

You can add Raisins and Dried Berries to the stuffing mixture and even sprinkle thinly sliced Almonds on top. You can get as creative with the stuffing and the modaks will turn out delicious with every trial. So this Ganpati Festival give these super quick Modaks a shot and I am sure Bappa will just love them!
Once again wish you all a very Happy Ganesh Chaturthi. Celebrate the festival with your loved ones and spread smiles..

how long can this be kept out?
My Food Story said…
For 3 to 4 hours they can be kept out of the refrigerator. But they tend to get softer as the chocolate starts melting. Therefore it is advised to keep them refrigerated at least for half an hour before serving.
