Ultimate Dark Chocolate Ganache

Chocolate Cake with Dark Chocolate Ganache

Who doesn't like a well frosted chocolate cake? If the cake is frosted properly, it definitely adds up to the texture and the taste. Well, When it comes to my favorite thing to top my cake with, then this decedent, silky chocolate Ganache has to be my answer. It has soft and light texture that does not only help enhance the flavour manifold but is easy and super quick to make as well.
Today I have come up with a perfect recipe of this ganache for beginner bakers. I was in search of the ultimate recipe for very long time and when I made it this way, it turned out really well. So here I am with the ultimate proportion one needs to follow to frost the cakes and cupcakes without much hassle. So, lets begin!

Ganache can be made with 'Dark chocolate', 'Milk chocolate' and even 'White chocolate'. But since dark chocolate is easiest to work with as compared to milk and white chocolate, it's totally apt for beginner bakers. This recipe comes in handy and can be used in three different ways.
Yess! the same recipe here can be used differently that is to use it as the 'Glaze', 'Frosting or spread' or even it can be 'Whisked' to make beautiful swirls. Just follow the recipe and you are good to go!

Ingredients

Ingredients:
Dark Chocolate (Roughly chopped) -  1 Cup
Whipping Cream - 1/2 a Cup

Procedure:

Step 1: In a microwave safe bowl, put the chocolate pieces and pour Cream over it. Make    sure both the ingredients are at room temperature.  (You can make this Ganache in              Microwave or even using a Double boiler. For both the methods, follow the same procedure.)

Step 2: Then put it in microwave for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, give it a good mix and        keep it in microwave for another 30 seconds. Post which all chocolate should be melted. Give it a quick stir and cover with a plate.

Pouring Consistency

Step 3: After 5-7 minutes, mix it properly and your ganache in 'Pouring Consistency' is  ready. You can use this for glazing your cakes and cupcakes.

Step 4:  To get spreading consistency, keep this ganache in refrigerator for about 15 minutes,   after which the ganache will get a little thicker and then can be used to spread over cakes and  cupcakes. (Note: This acts as good base for any fondant coverings for your cakes. Since its  thick, its very easy to work with and apply fondant on.)

Spreading Consistency

Step 5: If you wish to pipe your cake with ganache roses,  whisk the thickened ganache with   the hand mixer for about 5 minutes on a moderate speed. Then keep it in refrigerator for 10-  15 minutes and whisk once again for another 5 minutes. You will notice that the colour has lightened up a bit and it has got a little fluffy in texture.
Keep it aside for an hour or so and   then it will be all ready! Now you can make beautiful swirls on your cakes and cupcakes. (Note that: whenever you are keeping the ganache in refrigerator or even keeping it aside, make sure to cover it up with cling wrap in order to avoid
the crust forming on top. So as to get silky smooth ganache.)

As you see only two ingredients can do magic, just few steps to follow! So, give it a try and present your cakes and cupcakes with beautiful roses-like swirls on top with this Ultimate Dark Chocolate Ganache..
