Nutri Bars!

It has been quite long since I am only 'thinking' of making these Nutri Bars ,  have been learning of their health benefits  and  have been watching people making them but finally today put myself together to make them. Oh! was I making it sound complicated? Let me tell you that making these Nutri bars is damn easy (Once you have collected a bunch of ingredients though! Wink!)  These 'Nutri Bars' or 'Oats Bars' as called by many, are super healthy as they are nothing but the end product of dry roasting a few nuts, mixing well with some honey, dates and literally setting aside. As these bars are boosted with the goodness of it's ingredients, they make for a quick on-the-go breakfast or even an evening snack for that craving of an inevitable-munch. Ingredients:   You would definitely agree with me on one thing that having a regularly used, kitchen-staple kind of a cup/ bowl as a measurement is much relieving so I have purposefully used the same here and have r

Quick Spinach Soup

Being my most loved Green-leafy vegetable, Spinach has always got me thinking about various ways to inculcate it in my daily diet. That's how I got to learn this quick fix from my mother in law recently. The recipe is easy and simple on efforts as well as on time but the outcome is delicious, and healthy of course! Here it goes: For this you will need: Spinach leaves 1 bunch ((Fresh, cleaned and rinsed with water) (serves 4 people) Garlic Cloves (7-8 Finely chopped) Green Chillies (1-2 Finely chopped) Fresh Cream (2-3 Tbsp) Salt to taste Black Pepper 1. To blanch Spinach, heat up sufficient amount of water in a vessel and add a pinch of baking soda. When it starts boiling, add Spinach leaves and let them sit for 2 minutes. 2. Once done, take the leaves out and rinse with cold water so as to stop the cooking process. Transfer them into a mixture jar and grind into a fine puree. Add some water as per requirement. 3. "Upawas" Smoothie

Today I am sharing one of my all time favourite alternatives to the family-favourite Saboodana Khichadi. As on the days when my family observes fasting, I am somebody who instead of binging on Khichadi or related options, likes to indulge in Fruits and Milk. Basically binging healthy is what I try to do as much as possible! So here we go, this smoothie is one of those experiments for me, that has never gone wrong! So let's roll into it. To make two servings, You will need: 2 cups of Milk Slices of a Banana 2 Chikoos roughly diced Some Almond slivers for garnish This smoothie gets ready in absolutely no time, as all you have got to do is put everything together in a mixer grinder and blend until it is just well combined and gets smoothie like consistency. (Since we have added Banana slices, there no need to add Sugar.) Put it in a small little bowl and serve chilled. I am sure, it will be your favourite Upawas 'go-to' as well!

Quick Bruschetta

Bread and Cheese are those staples that never go wrong when it comes to satisfying quick snack cravings. Today I do have one of such recipes to share which does not only count as a quick snack but also makes an 'on the go' house party constant. This is how you make it: 1. Preheat your oven to 200°c for 5 mins. Apply some butter on a French Loaf (any bread would do but a French Loaf cut into diagonal long pieces makes for perfect Bruschetta) 2. Spread the slices onto a baking tray and bake for good 4 to 5 mins.  3. Then apply the tomato mixture onto the loaf slices. To make this, heat some oil in a cooking pan, add some Mustard, Cumin seeds, Ginger-Garlic chopped finely, Green chillies and finely chopped Onion. Once Onion turns pink, add finely chopped Tomatoes and sprinkle some Salt. In two to three minutes, Tomatoes would turn soft and mushy. Then add some Red Chilli powder, Tomato Ketchup and dark Soy sauce. Lastly top it up with some black pepper.
