Breakfast Oats.

'Breakfast Oats'
"Breakfast like a king,
Lunch like a prince and
Dine like a pauper."

"As from  this saying, it is self explanatory that breakfast is one of the important meals of the day. We all know that this is the meal with which we break the fast that we are observing since the night prior. So, having a good, healthy, filling and nutritious breakfast is certainly something that you won't mind keeping some time off for.

A healthy and filling breakfast helps you keep going; concentrate on your work better and helps you finish your to do list without craving for snacks in middle of the work.

Having a bowlful of oats, cup of coffee and some good time is my everyday morning dream. But of course; that dream certainly does not come true every single day. It's always rush and hurry. So, for days like these, I am always looking for something quick that saves my time as well as energy in the fast moving morning.

So, today on my menu of My food Story, I have my absolute favorite breakfast oats. Its a simple recipe of very few ingredients; yet is a sure win win if you are looking for something healthy to eat, especially after a good exercise routine. I am in love with this breakfast lately because, I find it yum as well as filling too.

So, lets see how you like my take on 'Breakfast oats'..

Let's just get started!"

Ingredients

Ingredients:
-Rolled oats 1 cup.

-Milk 1 cup.

-Honey 1 tbsp.

-Flaked almonds 1 tbsp.

-Dates 2-3 Deseeded  and chopped.

-Water 1/2 Cup.

-Figs 1 Chopped (optional).

-Roasted Sesame seeds (Til) 1 tsp (optional).

-Fruits of your choice.
Here I have taken some Apple and Banana slices but you can use any seasonal fruits of your choice.

"You can make this bowlful of goodness in absolute no time.

Step 1. Heat a pan and add a cup of oats. Roast it dry just to get them ready, to cook better. Here for this recipe I have used Quaker oats because they are easily available. If you can get more healthier version than rolled oats, you can use that as well.

Step 2. Add milk and stir once. Put a lid on for 3-4 mins.
I like my oats with milk. But if you wish to reduce the fat content you can replace it with water in the same quantity.

Step 3. Then add honey, sliced almonds, dates and figs (optional). Dates and figs will add to the sweetness as well as the texture. By this time oats shall have turn soft and almost cooked.

Step 4. Now you can add half a cup of water. I like my oats to be in Porridge like consistency, so I have added half a cup of water. You can always adjust the quantity of water depending upon the consistency. Stir it well for 2-3 minutes and it shall be ready to eat.

Step 5: Finally, Pour these ready oats in a bowl, add fruits, nuts of your liking and you are good to go.

You can always get creative with this recipe, for winter months you can sprinkle some roasted sesame seeds, flax seeds or chia seeds. You can add fresh berries and even a little dollop of peanut butter; but what matters here the most is having a good healthy breakfast.

To avoid eating anything unhealthy, you can simply plan your breakfasts for a week, or even a day prior, prep a little bit at night, go to sleep and wake up to a sorted morning! This will not only save your time in the morning but actually prevent from eating anything unhealthy or skipping your breakfast.

So, Do give this one a try and let me know how you like the recipe.

If you have any specific "Recipe Requests" do share with me.
Thank You."
